Culture and leisure
Roskilde is a multifaceted city with a charming mixture of historical monuments, museums and a colourful shopping life - from the traditional markets and small unique shops in the pedestrian area to the new shopping centre Ro's Torv. But Roskilde is more than shops and museums: there are also lots of restaurants and music clubs too.
Events and festivals in the city
The city is used as the backdrop for many different events and festivals - summer and winter. The biggest of them all, is of course the Roskilde Festival (the biggest rock festival in northern Europe). It turns the city upside down, partly because it triples the number of inhabitants for the two to three weeks the festival lasts, and partly because many of the inhabitants are involved in the festival in some way.
Creativity in the broader sense
Roskilde is a musical and creative city, but also the hub for knowledge and research companies in Denmark. Located just 30 minutes from the capital, Copenhagen, with its international airport, this dynamic city is ideally situated for internationally oriented knowledge-intensive businesses.
Art of living
Many Danes spend their free time in their garden, visit museums or go to sports clubs, associations or play in orchestras, etc. If you want to meet Danes, then join a football club, go to a concert, or join a club that caters for your interests. Copenhagen, home of the Royal Ballet and the Opera, is no more than 30 minutes away by train.
